The land of Zanthus is home to a remarkable race of people. The ancient Zantherians created and mastered several powerful fighting abilities. This made them probably the toughest warriors of Kryastal. This was because they had learned how to harness a spiritual energy called Chi. This energy comes from within and makes the fighter more powerful. From using it to blast an opponent to animating your weapon, it is a force to behold. The Zantherian race has an intense love of battle. They don't mindlessly start fights, but they will not back down from a challenge. They are typically hired as mercenaries, though if the cause is one they don't like, they will refuse it.
Members of Zantherian royalty are the strongest of their people. Those of the royal bloodline grew more powerful with each generation. Each prince or princess who are to take the throne must first partake in a quest to both prove their fighting skill and increase their knowledge. The D'Vontcloud family was one of the most respected in the empire and elsewhere. The council of mages, both before and after the war, made it a point to form an alliance with this family. The D'Vontcloud clan produced the one who would become general of the Lords' army, Sol D'Vontcloud, the Blademaster. However, Sol is one of the last remaining of the bloodline at this time.
Shortly after the Lords' return, tensions developed between Zanthus and Ponua, but a civil war broke out on Zanthus over the right of succession after Sol took up the position of Lords' General. Four hundred years of strife and sporadic battle left cities and towns in ruin and its armies severely weakened. With the civil war at last over, the armies of the Isles of Ponua invaded. The war would be won by the Zantherians, but at a high cost. Most of the Zantherians were killed and of those who survived, most of them succumbed to a plague released by ninja. Sol's land is now home to a handful of Zantherians who have chosen to band together and reside in the empire's former capital of Danalia. There are those of Zantherian descent throughout the world. Perhaps one day they will reclaim their homeland and rule it once more. New kingdoms exist where there was once one empire. |
