SALT MARSH
- Salt Marshes are transitional areas between land and water occuring along the intertidal shore of estuaries and bays.
- Salt Marshes are located in low, flat, poorly drained land, flooded daily or occasionally by salt or blackish water.
- Salt Marshes are covered with thick mats of grasses and small plants.
- Salt Marshes are common along Eastern coasts.
- Constant flow of water from oceans, rivers, or other bodies of water into marshes provide high concentrations of nutrients for organisms to thrive on.
