- Marsh plants are adapted to a harsh, semi-aquatic enviroment and saline soils.
- Stout stems, small leaves and physiological adaptions for salt excretion and gas characterize the inhabitants of the salt marsh (mostly grasses and low perennial herbs.)
- Salt Marsh are twice as photo-synthetically productive as corn fields and provide critical morsery grounds for numerous organisms.
- Plants live in the High Marsh. The most common plants are glasswort and spartina
- Glasswort, or also known as "sea pickles" can be eaten but are very salty.
- The Hammock is the part of the marsh where land plants grow. There you would find trees, racoons, and birds. The hammock is the driest part of the marsh.
