SALT PONDS
- Salt Ponds are a shallow marine embayment that recieves freshwater inflow from the inlet. When the inlet is closed for along time many plants and animals will die off and give the pond a very bad smell. Then when the inlet reopens the organisms who adapted to the freshwater will then die off due to the increasing  of salinity.
- Tidal and groundwater mix into the pond forming a salinity gradient. Most of the pond's plant animal life is segregated along this gradient.
