- Estuaries are places where freshwater rivers and streams flow into the ocean mixing with the seawater. The water there is called, "Brackish."
- Many kinds of birds, fish, and other wildlife make these estuaries their home.
- All estuaries look differently and have many different names such as: bays, lagoons, harbors, intlets, or sounds.
- 75% of commercial fish depend on estuaries for thier habitat, spawning grounds, and nursery areas.
