According to her granddaughter, Ivor Victoria Copelan-Doggett, who saw her when she was elderly, Permelia was light-skinned with brown eyes and white hair. Permelia's husband, Rowan Copelan, told Ivor that Permelia was connected with the Indians, but he gave no details. Rowan and Permelia often visited Ivor Copelan's family in the early thirties, and made the trips in a buggy or wagon (he owned both). He didn't own a car and Ivor couldn't recall seeing him even riding in one. Permelia was taller than Roe by about two inches, he being about 5' 8" and she 5' 10", and at least in her later years was somewhat heavy.
