The laws 'The Man' passed in an effort to ban thumbwrestling only resulted in the creation of a powerful anti-government-pro-thumbwrestling society commonly known as the thumbwrestling underground. The thumbwrestling underground is a highly secretive organization that was first seen in the seedy matches held in speakeasies in the early 1920's. The underground scene is still going strong in major cities throughout the United States. Specifics regarding the athletes or sites of matches cannot be shared because of the secrecy of the organization. Below is the late Leon Hapworth, captured in a rare photograph while wearing his championship ring.
