Raffles the Naturalist

It is ideal that this exhibit also mentions renowned naturalists, thus this exhibit focuses on the accomplishments of Sir Stamford Raffles, the founder of Singapore. This exhibit not only exemplifies Raffles' achievements, but also does showcase some of the first animals found in the Malay Archipelago, which were described by Raffles himself. Suffice to say that from this exhibition, people will get to know a side more interesting then that of his signing of treaties.

Exhibits you can see in the exhibition:

The all-too-well-known Rafflesia flower, perceived as being the biggest- and most evil smelling- flower of the world, which was the infamous flower discovered by Raffles.
