TEATRO JUAREZ
TEATRO PRINCIPAL
CINE CLUB
CINE GUANAJUATO
CITY PARKS/JARDINS
INTERNATIONAL CERVANTINO FESTIVAL
A variety of performances are seen here in this magnificent theatre. There have been operas, ballet, folklorico dancers, antique musical performances and much more. Very reasonably priced and worth it. Billboards on the front steps announce upcoming performances.
Recently released movies shown in this large single screen movie house in the afternoons/evenings beginning around 4 PM. Usually movies are in English with Spanish subtitles. Popcorn, sodas, snacks are sold. Located up (up,up) the callejon next to the University of GTO main entrance. It is a big orange building. Admission 24 pesos. Check flyers posted in town for current featured films.
Movies are shown in the Teatro Principal. Films and times are announced on large wooden billboards in the Union Jardin. Often in English with Spanish subtitles. No sodas or snacks sold.
There are kiosks all over town selling tours of the area. I can only suggest that you avoid them all. You get no bang for your buck. You can walk around GTO and learn just as much. The tour to Dolores Hidalgo/San Miguelle de Allende is especially disappointing - unless you are a real religious history buff.
Occurs 2 weeks in October. What started out as a fabulous idea of having international performances in different venues around the city has now deteriorated into what the visiting teenagers refer to as "Cervezatino." The city is jammed with beer drinking adolescents who sleep on the street and urinate in the callejones. There are still a few good performances but the majority are lackluster. We hope improvements will occur in the future.

MIMES/CALLEJONEADAS
The local symphony performs here almost every Friday night. Members of the symphony are from all around the world.
TOURS AROUND TOWN
GUANAJUATO STATE BAND
A free performance by the band plays in the bandstand in the Union Jardin nearly every Tuesday/Thursday at 6PM and Sundays at noon.
Great places to go for picnics and people watching. Try El Cantador or the Florencio Antillon de las Acacias at the Presa de la Olla. See if you can locate the giant snake and alligator by the Presa! If you are not up for a long walk, take the "Presa" bus and get off as it rounds the U turn in front of the small tiendas. Just follow the road up and enjoy the scenery the rest of the short walk to the lake itself.
Local mimes perform during warm weather in front of the Teatro Juarez near Union Jardin in the afternoons. Presented in Spanish but enjoyable even if you are not a speaker.
The "Callejoneadas", also known as "Estudiantinas",  are a band of wandering minstels that lead a walking tour of the callejones (alleys) of the city. They sing, play instruments and tell jokes and tales in Spanish. Tickets can be purchased at Juarez #210 entitling you to wine as you promenade. It's just as much fun to tag along without a ticket if you don't care to imbibe!
