HAIRCUTTING and HAIRSHAPING is defined as: the art of shaping hair in such a way that it provides a perfect foundation for the permanent wave and hairstyle.

HAIRSTYLING is defined as: arranging the hair in such a way that it makes the face appear oval in shape when it actually is not oval. In addition, the magic of hairstyling minimizes the bad features.

To design becoming hairstyles it is absolutely essential that we recognize these two hairstyling principles:

  1. The outline of a hairdress is all-important. Tf the outline is not right, the hairdress will be unbecoming.
  2. The oval shape is perfection. By having the correct outline in out hair dresses, we can make all face shapes appear oval in shape.
Here is a perfect oval. Study it carefully.

Observe that it is widest about one-third of the distance from the top.

The hairstyling method is to follow, is based on this oval shape.

THE PURPOSE OF THIS BOOK is to present professional hairstyling methods in a simplified and easy-to-understand way, so that all may benefit from the heretofore closely guarded secrets of the master hairstylists.
