René Mogensen, composer and musician:

solo concert performances with saxophone and electroacoustics

The Norway Times writes about Mogensen's Concerts at The Knitting Factory, New York City:

René Mogensen "does more than just entertain the audience - he mesmerizes spectators with his interesting combination of electroacoustic sound, chamber music, and jazz... there is no doubt that his music and art will be a part of not only Danish contemporary music history, but also the entire worlds contemporary music history."

Vesterhavsposten skrev om koncert i Aal kirke:

"Alle, som var mødt frem, godt 50, blev hurtigt klar over RM's store instrumentale kunnen, og alt i alt blev det en fin musikalsk oplevelse."

"In the common perception of sound, many categories have been established - such as genres of music, types of noise, and manners of speech. These categories are used here as bricks in a sound construction, or as cards in a card house. The bricks are fragmented - something shattered is openly vulnerable, and its essence becomes more apparent. The bottom cards may be jokers. The categories are taken for what they are - just blocks of sound that can be used, and should be thrown in various directions, until we can get beyond them, and listen to the humor that is in, and after them."

"Lyric beauty and mechanical harshness are combined in a dynamic aural dance - music and noise in unity. Comedy and despair - a subtle brutality in the creations of René Mogensen; an art form in which jazz, new chamber music and electroacoustic sound art are partners in a drama that is both abstract and physical, where runes of the imagination are offered and windmills are allowed to turn."

In October 1999, René was the composer in residence at the Center for Contemporary Music at Mills College, California, which culminated in a concert of his works.
