January 16 - 8pm - René Mogensen performed on saxophones with the David Ullman Quintet on the Knitactive Soundstage of the Knitting Factory, 74 Leonard Street, New York City. Original works by Ullman and Mogensen.
January 28, 9:00 to 11:30pm - René Mogensen in solo concert with special guest percussionist Tom Beyer at the Cornelia Street Cafe performance space on 29 Cornelia Street, between Bleecker and West 4th Streets. The concert featured René Mogensen performing solo works for saxophones and electronics including Winter Waves II, and Fragment 23B. These, along with other new and recent works, combine genres, creating a postmodern unity of chamber music, sound art and jazz. Mogensen and Tom Beyer performed works such as Rune Songs, as well as new works for saxophone, percussion and electronics products of an ongoing collaboration, entitled "Extensions," that began some five years ago. March 22, 8:00pm - The European premiere of Five Seasons in surround sound in concert at the Steno Museum Planetarium, in Aarhus, Denmark. Sponsored by the Danish Institute for Electroacoustic Music.

April 1, 7:00pm - solo concert in Aal Kirke (Aal Church) in Oksb¿l, Denmark. Aal Kirke is a beautiful church from medieval times - renovations of the church have been completed recently.
Vesterhavsposten skrev om koncerten: "Alle, som var m¿dt frem, godt 50, blev hurtigt klar over RM's store instrumentale kunnen, og alt i alt blev det en fin musikalsk oplevelse."
April 7 - solo concert at the opening of the Easter exhibition at the Vestjysk Art Museum in the new Janus Building in Tistrup, Denmark. The Janus building is a new arts center, exhibiting works of many contemporary Danish artists. See the Concert Program in PDF format.

May 3 and 4 - Mogensen's 40 minute work Menneskeoffer (Human Sacrifice), a cutting edge soundart work based on the text by philosopher Lars Aagaard-Mogensen, was first broadcast on Danish National Radio (DRP1) in August 2000, and was broadcast again in May, 2001. See Lydmuren
June 14-17 - Mogensen took part in the organizational work for the Mix.01 International Festival of Electronic Music in Aarhus, Denmark.
July 21 - Mogensen performs on soprano saxophone in a concert in the Pisa D'estate Performing Arts Festival in Pisa, Italy. The festival included the movement Room 2 from Mogensen's work Place Rum Chamber: Lyd for ensemble, electronics and electroacoustic tape in surround sound.
In August 2001, Mogensen created the new sound work Four Synthetic Mating Chants at IPEM studio in Ghent, Belgium, and presented the work as a guest speaker in their summer course on electroacoustic music:August 28, 12 noon - Mogensen presents the new electroacoustic work Four Synthetic Mating Chants in the Zomercursus "Initiatie tot de Elektroakoestische Muzeik," at the Instituut voor Psychoacustics en Elektronische Muzeik, at the University of Gent, Belgium. In August, Mogensen also worked with Logos Foundation to realize the programming of their mechanical instruments to perform his new work The Swarm Breaks Through the Net, which was premiered in December 2001, in Gent, Belgium.
October 11, 7:30pm - René Mogensen performed solo concert of original works in surround sound in Kunstcentret Silkeborg Bad (Modern Art Museum in Silkeborg, Denmark). Sponsored in part by the Danish Institute for Electroacoustic Music.

November 25, 14.30 and 22.30 - the premiere two broadcasts of Mogensens new 1/2 hour long electroacoustic soundpoem Terror og Penge in the program Ultralyd on Danish Public Radio (DR P1) in Copenhagen. The work is available in streamed format from Ultralyds online archive.
November - The electroacoustic work Four Synthetic Mating Chants was broadcast on Fretless Artsound FM, Australian radio.
December 4, 20.00 - concert at the Logos Foundation in Gent, Belgium included premiere of Mogensens work The Swarm Breaks Through the Net for automatum instruments.
