René Mogensen: Concerts and other music events 2002

Music Events Calendar 2002:

March 23 and April 27 - Movements from Four Synthetic Mating Chants and Place-Rum-Chamber: Lyd played on the Archegon Radiogon program on Radio Russelsheim (UKW 90.9, kabel 96.9) in Germany.

Mogensen took part in the technical work for the Mix.02 International Festival of Electronic Music in Aarhus, Denmark, June 13-16 2002.

July and August A new miniature by Mogensen can be heard on the KriKri webpage.

July New re-release of the formerly out-of-print jazz quartet cd Stream available at Notation in South Korea. Contains 1995 studio recordings from New York City of several compositions by Mogensen, and features him on Tenor and Soprano saxophones.

July 28 A reworked version of Mogensen's work Menneskeoffer was broadcast on the Danish Public Radio Program Ultralyd (DR P1)

August 1-23 Mogensen was in residence at the STEIM studios in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, for work on new interactive music works for modern dance. Including: A new work for piano and electroacoustic music for the dance piece entitled Heaven or Cell for the New York City-based choreographer Renata Celichowska for premiere in New York City, November 22-23, 2002.

August 24 Autumn Rune Song and Whatever Delayed for solo saxophone and electronics by Mogensen presented in the Klankfabriek festival in Belgium.

August 31 News Clips Study Nr.1 and Economics 102 by Mogensen presented in the KriKri festival in Gent, Belgium.

September 2 Synthetic Mating Chants broadcast on the Foldover radio program, in Oberlin, OH, USA.

November 22-23, 2002 New work for piano and electronics, for the dance piece entitled Heaven or Cell by choreographer Renata Celichowska premiered in the Frederick Lowe Theater in New York City, USA. (Three performances)

A new sound installation work by Mogensen, entitled Lyd Janus ¯re, will be exhibited in the West Jutland Art Museum, opening date to be announced.
Also in progress is the interactive sound part for the Photo-Sound Installation collaboration with artist Dana Matthews in New York City. Mogensen worked on the programming of these interactive works in Max/msp at the studios of the Danish Institute for Electroacoustic Music.

René Mogensen works across many musical areas, combining electroacoustic sound art with jazz and chamber music, and investigates improvisation as well as a broad range of approaches to notation.
