How To Take Care of Your Body
Though for the last eight years or so I have been involved in a non-denominational church, one of the most significant influences on my life was being raised in the Seventh-day Adventist Church.  It impacted my passion for the Bible, for prayer and it taught me the value of friendship.  Another valuable gift was a knowledge of healthful principles that I believe have kept me alive many years longer than statistics would have given me.  I would like to share some of them with you and also provide links that have been significant to me as an RN and specifically in my specialty of nephrology nursing.
Health Tip 1:
Did you know that for your body to do the work it has to do just in the area from the nostrils to the bronchus (from the tip of your nose to the entry point to your lungs) it takes five (8 ounce) glasses of water?    That is, per day.

Rest is multi-dimensional:
-It involves the whole body sleeping an adequate amount each night. It has been said that "an hour before midnight is worth three after."
-It involves the mind resting from the hustle and bustle of life. Andrew Weil suggests periodically "fasting from" or not watching the evening news.
-It involves a moderate lifestyle, occasionally eating nothing, taking in only liquids for an allotted period of time.  Aldous Huxley experimented with earthworms.  The group who fasted the equivalent of a human's one day per week outlived several generations of their contemporaries.  From Lee Bueno's book

It is becoming increasingly clear to me that the less that we eat animal products the healthier we will be.
At least increase your consumption of fruits and vegetables.  More on that subject later.
