The four-hectares manage Mangrove
Forest is a source of pride of Real because
it's a living testaments to its success in preserving
its natural resources. In fact the town has already
won twice the award for having the cleanest river in
the Philippines. Bryan Potestades, assistant planner
of the municipality planning office headed by Edgardo
Juntereal, reports that their office has to date planted
Php25000 worth of mangrove profogules (at the rate of
200 per day) as part of its current program to maintain
the health of the mangrove forest. The forest is crucial
to the ecological balance of the area since it function
as a natural hatchery for many aquatic species on which
Real depends for food and for livelihood.
