Fluvial Procession
in Honor of Patron of Saint Rafael Archangel, a Fluvial
Procession was done every October 24
of each year at the Lamon Bay. The people of Real
also celebrates the Real Foundation Day every June
22 where there is a "Harana Night Competition"
participated-in by the different barangays. "Harana"
is an age-old cherished Filipino tradition of courtship
wherein young swains serenades the damsels of their
choice. Accompanied by a guitarist, these young men
render love songs designed to melt the hearts of the
ladies in question, and is made-up of the following:
"Pagbati" or welcome, "Pananambitan"
or the the wooing part, "Pagtanggap" or
acceptance and "Pamamaalam" or saying goodbye.
In this era of high-technology and
cyber love affairs, it is indeed refreshing to witness
a "Harana" which is still being practiced
in some provinces of the Southern Tagalog Region.
