Being aware of the miserable condition of our young people who are lost in vices, like abuse of illegal drugs, a core of God-loving and God-fearing people decided to bond together and make a corporate effort of becoming a part of the solution of the problem. Much time, talent and treasure were used in raising funds so the first batch of workers could be trained to do work.

Upon the return of workers who were trained in Singapore at the Asian Teen Challenge, the Ministry was set up. The Reach Youth Training Center, a home for drug addicts who desired rehabilitation, was birthed in 1985 at Marikina. In 1987, the home was transferred to St. Ignatius Village, Quezon City, where there was more space.

The days and months that followed were fruitful in terms of touching and changing lives. However there was something in the heart of the workers that was dying and something that was wanting to be born. Each was fighting to edge out the other. God influenced and moved the situations and circumstances in and of the Ministry that the primary service, which was treatment, was replaced by prevention. The shortage of workers, the huge cost of maintenance and housing were among the seen reasons which prompted such major move.

The transition happened towards the end of 1988. In January of 1989, the Reyeses, Lilia and Joy, put in place the street work. Today, we have full-blown prevention and intervention programs among streetkids, potential street kids, their families and other adults, in Makati and nearby cities and provinces.
