RCTNow 2 was cancelled during the week of June 8th due to lack of interest. Our next party will be held on July 27th. A lot of people are complaining because they came to the firehall on June 8th, only to be greeted by closed doors. As you were told when we founded this LAN club, if you register at the last minute, that could happen. We _need_ to know how many people will be there and when. It doesn't help when you sign up 2 days before an event, people. Deal :P
Once again, we're clearing the slate for July 27th, unless ACSLan, our ally in Johnstown, has an event planned for that weekend. Check their site out Here. 40 seats will be available this time, and the cover charge is a five dollar bill. Register early, join the forums, make it to the event, kill some stuff, come back. And maybe we can pull this off :)
Crap. We got the firehall, but......

Well, here's the lowdown. I even made a special frontpage for this. Your not going to like this, any of you.
We got the firehall. But we didn't get it for the 1st. The Girl Scouts have the hall on Saturday, Sunday, and part of Monday due to a book keeping mixup at the hall. I had no other choice but to postpone the event until the following week, on 6/8/02. We are going to hold this LAN from 5:00 PM on 6/8/02 till 5:00 AM on 6/9. 12 hours. I hope you bring your coffee.
On the other hand, I have secured another couple desk switches. We can now fit 40 people safely into the bulding....45 is pushing it. I'm going to get the soda the day of the event, along with the food. Other than these few changes, everything else is still the same. Again, I apologize for this little mishap, but you have to admit, those Jr. Mints they sell sure are addictive :)
I am going to start advertising for the event tomorrow. Hopefully, we will get enough people so I wont have to distribute flyers. I feel like a dancing idiot when I hand those things to business owners. It seems to me as though we'd better get some news coverage. So, the day of the event, if all 40 show up, we are going to call WJAC. I bet we won't have any sponsorship problems after that.
Oh yeah, that reminds me. Everyone should head over to our forums by the link at the bottom of the front page. It seems as though traffic to the site has went up, but the forums have went down. I'd like to encourage everyone to join the forums so you can get the latest information on every single thing I do wrong =P
Hey, at least I don't sugar-coat things like some people.
RCTNow represents Ebensburg/Mineral Point in a multi-state LAN party?

For those of you that don't know yet, I've been trying to bring a large-scale LAN party to our area for quite some time now. I'm in talks with several local clubs to create a huge (read: 200+ memebers) party in the area. Head on over to the forums and tell me what you think! If this happens, I'm going to collect an extra $2 at the next LAN party for anyone who wants an RCTNow T-shirt. That way, we'll look like a team, too.
ACSlan was this weekend.

A group of our team showed up at ACSlan over the weekend. There were a few familiar faces there, and we got to meet a lot of LAN go'ers that weren't at our last event. The party started at 6PM and lasted well into the morning. A few gamers decided to play GTA, but a lot of people were playing JK II: Jedi Outcast. A Quake 3 tournament was held later on, with some nice prizes. All in all, it was great fun, and I suggest that the rest of RCTNow check it out next time. The LAN's web site can be found here: www.acslan.org
We are going to start the push for RCTNow 2 on the first of May, in case you are wondering why there hasn't been much activity here. I am still trying to recover from the last event :)
A news update, if that's what you want to call it!

If anyone hasn't noticed, signups are ready for the June 1st tournament. I know that it is a long way off, but I am really going to push for a full house this time. We need it, as we still don't have any funds in the club treasury, and we need to purchase some badly-needed networking equipment. A full house, from what I figure, is probably about 40 people. Any more, and in an ironic twist, the firehouse may catch fire. The next events details are:
- It's still $5 registration, and it will be that until further notice.
- We will be holding a Q3A DM tournament this time.
- One prize, instead of several small ones.
- 4:00pm-10:00pm again
- We will be regulating the food and soda next time, instead of self service. If you want to bring your own food and soda, go right ahead :)
- Instead of seating yourself, you will be assigned a seat number and given our games survey.
- I probably won't need to go to the hospital the day after the tournament.
As always, your comments are appreciated. If you haven't joined our forums yet, you should do it right now. Your questions will get answered even faster there, and you'll have the chance to meet some of the people who've seen the chaos caused by me. I hope everyone had a nice Holiday weekend, and is prepared to go back to work and school :)
