Yelu Qi is a peaceful and honorable man. He does not believe in revenge and frowns upon it. Yet even so, he could not help but admire Wanyan Ping's courage and her absolute loyalty to her family.

He makes a deal with her. He has made a vow never to use his left hand in battle but if
Wanyan Ping forces him to use it, he would gladly give her his life. Wanyan Ping accepts his condition and leaves the Yelu Household.

Curious about her plight and goaded on by her resemblance to his Gugu,
Yang Guo decides to follow Wanyan Ping. Her resolve in exacting revenge has won Yang Guo over to her cause. He resolves to teach her a way to force Yelu Qi to use his left hand. The technique is so clever and so unorthodox that Wanyan Ping believes it might work.

     The next morning at breakfast,
Yelu Qi receives a note from Wanyan Ping summoning him to a duel. The Yelus are surprised since they could not fathom what sort of technique she could have learned overnight.

Yelu Yan, the Mongol adviser's daughter, looks meaningfully at her older brother, Yelu Qi who seems the one most bothered of them all. She seems to have an idea as to how her brother really feels about Wanyan Ping.

     During the duel,
Wanyan Ping does exactly what Yang Guo told her to do. She turns the blade onto herself, forcing Yelu Qi to forget his vow and save her, using his left hand. Wanyan Ping thus wins the match and as a reward, Yelu Qi hands her his sword and offers her his neck.

     As she raises the blade,
Wanyan Ping feels some doubts and instead, drops the weapon and runs outside. Yang Guo goes after her, leaving Wu Shuang alone in the streets. A while later, Li Mo  Chou and Hong Ling Bo arrive.#
