| Yang Guo is the son of the notorious kung fu fighter and prince of Jin Dynasty, Yang Kang. His mother dies when he is still very young and he therefore grows up without much adult supervision. When the legendary hero and Yang Kang's sworn brother, Guo Jing, finds him, he thus gets a reluctant orphan boy with a smart mouth and a tendency to rebel. |

| Yang Guo at first learns under the Taoist teachings of All True Sect Kung Fu (Quan Zhen) but after a violent disagreement with one of his teachers, he leaves the temple of Chong Yang Palace. From then on, he trains under several kung fu masters, including the beautiful and mysterious heiress of Ancient Tomb Sect Kung Fu (Gumu Bai), Xiao Long Nuu (Dragon Girl) who becomes the love he would live and die for. |
