Hosting Opportunities – French Immersion student teachers

The Vancouver School Board (“VSB”), Canadian Parents for French (“CPF”) Vancouver Chapter and College Universitaire St. Boniface (CUSB) in Manitoba have agreed to work together this year on a pilot project which involves hosting six CUSB students who will complete a two week teaching practicum in a Vancouver French Immersion elementary school. This project is in furtherance of the goal to increase the pool of French Immersion teachers the VSB can draw upon.

The six French Immersion schools involved in the project are: Lord Tennyson, Douglas (Main and Annex), Laura Secord, Trafalgar and General Gordon.

The two week practicum will be held between February 19th and March 2nd, 2007.

CPF Vancouver is looking for six families to host one student each. The general guidelines are as follows:

It is not necessary to provide transportation for the students and they can travel by bus to the schools.

If anyone is interested in being a host family, please contact Debra Dawers (CPF Vancouver Chair) at [email protected] or by telephone at 604-739-7755.
