Garden Tour

Let the camera take you on a short tour of our garden.

our house

This is our house. It was built circa 1892 by my grandfather who emigrated to Victoria, Australia from Northern Italy at the time of the Gold Rush era of the 1850's. Of classical Victorian design it is now listed on the Heritage register.

In 1995, some major landscaping changes were made to the garden by Andrew Laidlaw who now is with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne.

climbing rose
Late spring at our place. Climbing rose is Albertine.
Lorraine Lee rose in front. Purple flowers are perennial wallflowers.

Yuccas
Yuccas flowering in all their glory. I counted 192 blooms on one of the spikes. The flowers are edible.

clivia
Border of Clivia Miniata at the rear of the house. They thrive in these shade conditions.

cubby house
My granddaughter's Cubby House complete with slide and sandpit. It took me three months to build. I don't think my family thought I would finish it. My granddaughter did the painting.

Garden Quotes

Kind hearts are the garden
Kind thoughts are the roots
Kind words are the blossoms
Kind deeds are the fruits

********

This is my garden my joy and my pride
And when I am here I feel God by my side

********

The Kiss of the Sun for pardon
The Song of the birds for mirth
You are nearer God's heart in a garden
Than anywhere else on earth

********

A garden of love
Blooms in our hearts forever.
