PWFFL 2003 Awards - Part 3

[01.10.04] Kalamazoo, MI - The crowd, especially the two drunken guys sitting at the end of the table, is really started to drool heavily over Salma's bouncing assets as she walks across the podium to present each award. The catcalls have gotten so out of hand that the two have been warned to keep quiet or face expulsion.

PWFFL 2003 MVP

This player broke the season records for both runningback and the most points in a single season by any player, an amazing 302 fantasy points, last year. This year he had a lot more competition and came close to not holding this award for the second straight season.

Winner: Priest Holmes - Running Back, Wisconsin Wannabes

(a hush falls over the crowd, and shock falls across their face as the PWFFL nanny walks on stage) Hello, I'm here to accept this award for..(looks puzzled trying to read the name on the award) who? oh, Priest Holmes, whoever he is. I'm sure he'd be pretty excited if he was able to make it here.

Rookie of the Year

Rookie of the year includes not only NFL rookies, but also anyone that has never played a game in PWFFL. The nominees are: Dominick Davis (RB-RI), Tommy Maddox (QB-Wis), and Dante Hall (WR-Wis)

Winner: Dante Hall - Wide Receiver, Wisconsin Wannabes

Although Davis was the only true rookie nominated for this award, Hall had a great rookie campaign and started almost the entire season for the Wannabes. He tallied 128 points to finish in 11th place of all WR's.

Diamond Award

The Diamond Award is given to the player that had his breakout year making him the "difference-maker" on his team. The Diamond Award winner is the player that had the biggest jump in production from any previous year in PWFFL. The Nominees are: Steve Smith (WR-Sea), Trent Green (QB-BH), Titans (Def-Wis)

Winner: Steve Smith - Wide Receiver, Seattle Slimy Slugs

Smith made an amazing jump in production this year. In his rookie season last year, Smith only scored 20 points for the Ridicule. Changing teams did wonders for the undrafted free agent of the Slugs. Smith broke out with an amazing 103 more points over his rookie campaign and has finally arrived as a must start player.

Lemon Award

The Lemon Award goes to the player that showed such promise as to make a team use a high draft pick on them, only to be unable to perform for them. Although all the nominees are from the same PWFFL franchise, only one player can hold the honor of being the 2003 Lemon of the Year. The Nominees are: Stacey Mack (RB-NMY) #1, Correll Buckhalter (RB-NMY) #7, Marc Boerighter (WR-NMY) #9.

Winner: Marc Boerighter - Wide Receiver, Northern Michigan Yoopers

Boerighter didn't even last a month on the Yoopers and for good reason. Although Buckhalter left the Yoopers earlier, no one could match the sour taste Boerighter left in Jon's mouth. Eleven catches for 158 yards was Boerighter's total NFL output for the entire 17-week season. Not the numbers one would expect out of the ninth player taken in any draft, but the perfect numbers to make him this year's Lemon of the Year

Golden Comb Award

The Golden Comb Award is for the best value pick in the draft. This player was picked up late in the draft and performed better than expected for their team. The Nominees are: Domanick Davis (RB-RI) #113, Andre Davis (WR-GB) #117, Chiefs (Def-Roc) #112

Winner: Domanick Davis - Running Back, Rhode Island Ridicule

(Owner, Libzie) I'd like to Ridicule Jabin of the Slugs as without his input late in the draft I wouldn't have even known of Davis's existence. To think, he could have had an even more stacked backfield than he does now.

We have to take a commercial break, but when we return Salma will give out even more awards.
