Origin:

Puck's World Fantasy Football League's origin can be traced back to a fantasy football league thrown together by a group of people that often posted on a message board associated with the episodic website "The Tide". Puck joined the one season league as the tenth and last person. With no prior knowledge of fantasy football, Puck was able to rise to the top and convincingly won the league.

During the summer, Puck had talks with another future owner of a PWFFL team, Wisconsin Wannabe's, about starting up their own fantasy football league that would include people that they knew to compete against them. The two of them decided to bring those people up to speed about fantasy sports by hosting a Fantasy Baseball League, with the draft order of the football league to be determined by the order of finish in that baseball league. Kalamazoo's owner and owner of the Michigan Twinkies, Puck, won the baseball league and earned the first pick in the newly formed Puck's World Fantasy Football League.

Year One:

PWFFL's first season was planned to have ten teams competing. Two teams that were not part of the baseball league, Green Bay Fudgepackers and Rocko Bengals were granted teams and drafted in the last two spots. Due to problems with teams signing up, Chicago (later to be the owner of Byron Center Bears) was not able to join before the draft.

The first season went well until the playoffs, when the odd number of teams effected the outcome. Rhode Island felt as though they were unfairly excluded from the playoffs because of the number of games they played, they had a lower winning percentage but the same number of wins as the fourth team in the playoffs that year, Timbuktu. The playoffs were capped off with the first Puck Bowl, when Seattle upset Kalamazoo. Seattle's win probably made it possible for the league to continue, because it showed that Puck could be beaten in fantasy sports and the other teams would return to see if they could become the next Seattle Slimy Slugs.

Only having nine teams the first year lead to league reform regarding how teams signed up with the online software. The League President now sends out login information directly to the owner after the draft, to make sure all teams are accounted for to keep an even number of teams.

Year Two:

The second year of PWFFL saw the return of all the teams from the previous year. The league also expanded for the first time by adding Byron Center Bears. With ten teams for the first time, the season looked to be the best one in the short history of the league, but it was not meant to be.

Halfway through the second season of fantasy football, Byron Center was not fairing well in the league and had a poor record. The owner of the team openly quit, changing the password for the team so that the president of the league could not find a temporary replacement. This lead to a major standoff, where eventually the President was able to retrieve the password and continue the second half without jeopardizing the whole season. Kalamazoo went on to be the best team in both the regular season and the playoffs by beating Seattle in Puck Bowl II.

The fallout from the second year came in a severe fashion. The League President felt that the competitiveness of the league was severly compromised by the lack of effort by some owners. The result saw three teams eliminated due to this flaw: Portland Fire Gnats, Kln Mrderdelphine, and Byron Center Bears. An interesting note about the Byron Center Bears. After their roster was frozen, not allowing any changes in personal, Byron Center went on to string together a significate number of wins. The former owner gave up too soon, Byron Center finished eight out of ten teams and may have had a shot of making the playoffs had the standoff not occured.

Year Three:

Puck's World Fantasy Football League looked to start anew in year three. With only seven of the original teams remaining, the league expanded once again to reach an even eight teams by adding the Benton Harbor Hoodlems. The President fully believed that he had worked out all the kinks, removed the bad apples, and looked forward to the upcoming season to be the best the league had seen.

The third season delivered most of the expectations the President had dreamed. Although, Benton Harbor failed to win a game and posted the worst record ever by a team, the compitition was strong and everyone seemed to have fun. The Seattle and Kalamazoo feud continued in the third season with Seattle flexing their domination by coming away regular season and Puck Bowl III champions. As Puck Bowl III champions, Seattle was the first to raise the Bribin Cup, the new traveling trophy of PWFFL.

After the third season, the PWFFL website went under a major redesign. Over the past year, new features such as the News and History sections have added a new dimension to the website. After three years and not one trade, the President decided to change the rules in the hope of stimulating the trading side of fantasy football. His goal was reached when the first trade in PWFFL history was made when Kalamazoo traded Brian Griese (QB-Den) to Wisconsin for their fourth round draft pick (17th Overall).

Year Four:

For the first time in league history, PWFFL started the 2002 season with a full twelve teams. The four new teams(Detroit Drive, England Teasers, W. Palm Beach, and Baltimore) all came from different levels of fantasy experience and backgrounds. With the biggest cast of characters the league had ever seen, the game strategy of those in PWFFL was sure to change.

The start of the season saw two very surprising teams at the top of the standings. Both Timbuktu and Rocko jumped out of the gates with 4-0 records along with defending champion Seattle. Rocko would later become the only one of those three to make the playoffs joining Kalamazoo, Wisconsin, and the Puck Bowl IV champion Rhode Island Ridicule. Owner Libzie became the first woman and the third person ever to win the Bribin Cup.

After Puck Bowl IV, trading made a huge impact on the offseason. The offseason saw five trades. Also, in a very contraversial move, the President forcefully removed an owner for the first time in league history. Puck removed Baltimore from the league because of a lack of interest, bouncing email, and possible collusion with another owner. In response to the uproar over the dismissal, Puck instituted rule changes that would bring about a democratic process beginning after the 2003 season. The biggest addition during the 2003 offseason was the beginning of the PWFFL's official messageboard, which brings everyone together and keeps everyone talking during the offseason.

Year Five:

The start of the fifth year saw an new addition to the league. The Northern Michigan Yoopers rounded out the league into 12 teams after the departure of Baltimore. The big news surrounding this owner is that he is the first owner not to have a personal connection with anyone else in the league. Puck discovered this talent while playing in another fantasy league and invited Jon to play in PWFFL.

The England Teasers made their first trip to the playoffs in 2003 edging out another surprising team, W. Palm Beach, in the final week of the regular season. Kalamazoo made history in year five by becoming the first ever undefeated team (12-0-2). The Vikings continued winning into the playoffs to eventually defeat the Seattle Slimy Slugs in Puck Bowl V. The 2003 Kalamazoo Vikings became the first team since the 2000 Kalamazoo Vikings to capture the Triple Cup Crown (Bribin, President, and Pimp Cups).

Most of the news during the offseason following Puck Bowl V didn't come until near the start of the new season. Green Bay Fudgepacker owner Dave S. took advantage of the new rule instituted prior to the 2003 season allowing an owner to change the name of their team. The Fudgepackers were renamed the Green Bay Slackers and thus were instituted a penalty of being allowed only three protections. Only a few trades took place, which made an impact on the draft. Kalamazoo traded Puck Bowl V MVP Jamal Lewis to the Detroit Drive for what turned out to be the #1 pick in the 2004 draft. Then Kalamazoo lost Ricky Williams prior to the draft to make the Vikings harold backfield very thin.

Year Six:

The sixth year started off with a bang, but quickly soured. Record attendence at the PWFFL live draft saw all but one team in attendance (England). England did however have a live drafter in attendance which made some great picks for the franchise. Benton Harbor owner Kim S. made a lackluster effort that had a lot of owners scratching their heads wondering if she still had the passion for the game that was required for playing in PWFFL. Shortly after the draft, the PWFFL tenured owners got together and eventually removed Kim from PWFFL and replaced her with PWFBL's Cranville owner Angela U. Since this was the first time an owner was replaced midseason in PWFFL, the TO's agreed to set new ground rules for such a replacement. All Benton Harbor players on the team at time of owner change and still on the team at the end of the season, would be thrown into the FA pool following the Puck Bowl.

The season started to get everything back on track. Benton Harbor, left with a horrible team from the draft, had a hard time finding enough talent to win. Kalamazoo continued their undefeated streak until Wisconsin snapped it with an impressive week 4 victory over the defending champion. N. Michigan looked to be a major threat to make the playoff early in the season, until a controversial mistake by Yahoo derailed their karma. Kalamazoo went on to defeat the regular season champion Rhode Island in Puck Bowl VI to become the first franchise to win back to back Puck Bowls. Rhode Island was only the second #1 seed not to win the Puck Bowl (1999 Kalamazoo Vikings).
