Why I went to the rally today
By Misty Mathews posted 15 November 05

$10.25 per hour working poor Prole in a Plutocracy

In Perth LHMU members spoke out against the laws

"I actually asked to speak at the rally because all of this makes me really angry, " said 27 year old Misty Matthews, who now works as a cleaner and patient support in a government hospital.

Six years without paid leave

" I hear John Howard and employers saying that the Unions are scare mongering about AWAs and losing conditions, but I have worked on AWAs and individual contracts before ( When a previous conservative gov't introduced them in West'n Australia), and as a result I went for six years without any paid leave.

"I was told that my hourly rate ($10.25 hour) compensated for no paid leave.

" When I broke my ankle playing sport I ended up having to come to work in a cast, otherwise I had no income.

" That is the reality of workplace agreements."

Other LHMU members attending the Perth rally

Irene Snow is a social trainer, working with people with intellectual disabilities at Active Foundation, which she has done for over 15 years.

Now in her 60s, she will soon be retiring. "Obviously I worry about what work conditions will be like for my children and grandchildren.

" Some people will be able to bargain and look after themselves, but a lot of people won't. And what about the pension? That's linked to the average weekly wage, so all of this could affect me even after I stop working."

Anne Anderson is an experienced Child Care director and was employed to set up the Curtin Technology Park Child Care Centre.

She set up the centre, successfully seeing it through its licensing and launch. Despite her long hours, hard work and commitment, six months later Anne was sacked.

The company claimed they couldn't afford to pay her, so they employed someone with less experience for less money.

Anne's claim for unfair dismissal was successful and she was awarded 3 months pay and compensation for using her own vehicle and time to ensure the success of the Centre.

" Under this legislation, I would have nowhere to go to clear my name.

" Everything is stacked to the employer. That's wrong. That's why I will be going to the rally."

Terrorist jihad propaganda
By Propaganda Monster 15 November 05

Residents in the far-north west of New South Wales say they are shocked by allegations terrorist training camps were briefly set up in their area and they should be shocked.

Because that is rubbish?

Just like police claim they prevented a terrorist attack on the nuclear reactor at Lucas Heights. Police say they stopped three of the accused that were trail bike riding yet police never told the nuclear authority ANSTO? If ANSTO were not informed about it then that flaws any police report as far as I am concerned. Police alleged that they had broken a padlocked gate to enter so why didn't anyone hear about it? Not the general public or even the authority itself?

Besides that trail bike riding is common in that area.

Court documents released in Sydney yesterday claim that some of those arrested in counter-terrorism raids last week used the Mulga Creek and Currenyalpa stations near Bourke for jihad training exercises earlier this year.

But if it were you or I they'd have to say we went on a camping trip or a holiday or even a shooting holiday in the bush?

Police propaganda

The two properties are for hire for shooting camps and other activities but police allege the eight men came to the properties to train for 'violent' 'jihad'.

Ask yourself what would police do if they went on holiday there? Leave the guns at home?

In the 21 pages tendered to Sydney's central local court, police allege the fingerprints of one of the men were found on a cheque used to pay for the trip.

Local residents who do not wish to be identified say they have been unaware of any alleged terrorist activities in the area and are shocked by the allegations.

They aren't that stupid either and I reckon the police and media giants think they are. The reporters are running around 'fishing' just like the police after their 'fishing' raids. That always means there is a good catch for Authorities and the media giants to be able to make the right comment to make nationally.

If police raid a district of course they are going to find a number of 'things'. Things they can put together like a jigsaw puzzle after the fact and put together with a few loose labels, jihad jargon and a few uncorroborated assumptions, even lies just to secure people in AAA custody endlessly.

But this is just to back up the police story even if the police story is so far fetched that in the public eye it seen as some sort of scare tactic which has nothing to do with reality at all, as we know it and this is from people who claim to be responsible? Responsible to uphold laws and responsible to broadcast news publicly?

So why do the giants play the stupid game when they ought to know better?

The owner of the Mulga Creek station, Charles Fairey, says he usually rents the property to people wanting a bush experience or to shooters of feral animals.

"I'll certainly take a lot more notice of any groups of shooters that I have," he said.

Mr Fairey plans to show the media the site today.

The ABC caught one too

Meanwhile, the mayor of the Bourke Shire Council, Wayne O'Malley, says the investigation into alleged terrorist training in the district has been under way for some time.

Councillor O'Malley says communities around Mulga Creek and Currenyalpa Stations have cooperated with police.

"I've been aware that there's been investigations going on for some time and again it's very much a cooperative effort that's led to this," he said.

Cr O'Malley says the properties named in documents tendered to the court are remote locations.

He says the community has worked with police and is undeterred by the alleged connection to terrorist activities.

"We don't anticipate any reaction at all - it's get on with life and pretty much business as usual for what happens out there, this is just an incident that's happened and we'll take in our stride," he said.

But if it did happen it wasn't an 'incident' either but police have alleged it was a 'jihad' because it fits the propaganda and it's yet to be proved in court in  'God knows how much time'. Certainly too late to push back the fear created by the authorities to pass the new Anti-Terrorism Bill?

On the second day of the raids police were desperate to secure charges that would stick and that is why they went out looking again.

The media have a right hide to suggest in any way shape or form that these people went on anything but a holiday, if they went there at all, a shooting trip or a country break and in no way should it be referred to as a 'jihad' in this country, even if police said so.

That really only shows contempt for the Australian people of this country and an insult to all multicultural Australian citizens.

34-year-old architect Faheen Khalid Lodhi is till held in AAA since 2004, waiting to have his matters dealt with where police alleged he had 100 toilet rolls and a map of the electricity grid downloaded of the internet and had planned a terrorist attack in Sydney.

Lodhi, 34, was charged with seven terrorist offences after a six-month police investigation.

All this proves that it takes ever so long to clear your name and by then it's too late to stop the personal and family damage or the political brutality on the nation by using the propaganda as a scapegoat to ramp up new anti-terror legislation.

We still don't know if the government has lied in his case so why would anyone trust the government to pass new laws Anti-Terrorism laws?

Lodhi toilet paper: crap!

Lodhi's legal team have opposed the application, saying it was unacceptable that they were not given notice that it would be made. After reading a confidential document supporting the Government's application, lawyers for Lodhi said it was clear there was evidence they were yet to receive that they needed to cross-examine witnesses.

Victorian Cops win at corruption - yet again !

Nov 12 news.com.au

CORRUPTION investigators are closing in on several Victoria Police officers.

Office of Police Integrity director George Brouwer revealed yesterday that the OPI had uncovered convincing evidence of police corruption.

He told the Herald Sun these activities included:

STEALING while executing search warrants on homes.

DRUG dealing and giving the green light to other dealers.

INTIMIDATING fellow officers into not reporting corrupt activity.

CORRUPT associations with private investigators and security industry staff.

INAPPROPRIATE use of confidential Victoria Police information.

USING the bank accounts of fellow officers to hide cash and avoid paying tax and child support.

The OPI's corruption branch has issued 136 summonses in which people have been ordered to hand over documents and compelled to answer questions - or face criminal charges for refusing.

Mr Brouwer said his investigators had prepared briefs of evidence against several police.

"We are closing in on a number of corrupt officers and we will be closing in on many more," he said.

In an interview to mark the OPI's first anniversary, Mr Brouwer and assistant director Graham Ashton also revealed:
THE OPI is conducting 40 separate investigations into allegedly corrupt activity by serving and former Victoria Police officers.

MORE than 50 officers will be investigated over unexplained assets involving millions of dollars.

BASIC anti-corruption measures adopted by police forces around Australia have not been implemented by Victoria Police.

THE OPI's use of secret sting operations to trap suspect officers is about to be dramatically increased.

AN investigation has started into inappropriate use of capsicum spray amid complaints of over-zealousness.

THE OPI has held 24 secret hearings in which some officers have confessed to corrupt activity and others have dobbed in allegedly corrupt colleagues.

Mr Ashton said some officers had appeared before the secret hearings as a means of reporting corrupt activity without fear of reprisal from fellow police.

"We have had police in our in-camera hearings confessing their crimes and also implicating other police in serious criminal offences," he said.

"The OPI provides avenues that haven't otherwise been available in terms of treatment for corruption, in that it may not always be our preference to bring officers before the courts, where they have a good record of being acquitted.

"It might well be that we use our coercive process and the outcome is that the officer leaves the force.

"In certain circumstances that is the most efficient remedy to a particular problem."

Mr Brouwer said the OPI had spent the past 12 months recruiting expert staff, buying the latest equipment, setting up a surveillance team and using the royal commission-type coercive powers granted by the State Government.

"All that background work is already bearing fruit. We have issued 136 summonses and had 24 in-camera hearings.

"We have got 36 proactive investigations under way, four reactive ones and 21 major complaints to look at.

"They cover the whole gamut of corruption, from police bashings to bullying to allegations of drug dealing and green-lighting drug dealers.

"We are very much down the track and are rapidly closing in on people.

"Already we have identified a number of people on whom we have evidence which is incontrovertible."
