Wind storms often rip through our little town - and the trees will sway and sometimes snap. We had one of those type windy days a couple of weeks ago. (photos taken 05-28-02)

We don't go into our back yard often - so it was a bit of a surprise to open my bedroom window one day last week to discover this . . .

downed black spruce
To show you how blessed we were, here are a couple of pictures to show you what it might have hit, should it have snapped in any other way . . .

As I said, I am not sure how long the tree was down, but we noticed it about 10 days ago - queried the grands and the 7 year old said it had been down a "long time." As we all know a long time to a 7 year old could simply mean "yesterday." Neighbor on one side said she noticed it the previous Sunday. So it probably has not been down too long.

It needs to be taken care of, nonetheless - no matter HOW long it has been down. So I called the Pastor's sons and they came over today while we were at work - the result of their labor?
