Had to make a quick run to Anchorage Monday afternoon - the Saturn has been having a key problem - the ignition will not always unlock/turn with the key.

It was decided that if I got the car up there Monday night they would be able to squeeze the repair in on Tuesday. So, the PurpleMoose was on the road and it was time to take some pictures. These were taken from the inside of the car as I was instructed not to turn off the key until I got to Anchorage. we won't even go into how uncomfortable my bladder was by the time I arrived!

Mama and Baby - honest!
One of the things I had hoped to photograph was a moose baby - I have been writing about these little critters and so wanted to share them with you. Only trouble with skittish critters is that they skedaddled before I could get the shutter to work. Sigh!

The small arrow is the baby - larger arrow is mama. Honest!!

However - as I drove home Tuesday, from my left side I saw a moose heading for the road. I also noted a semi tractor hitting his brakes as he headed toward me from the other direction. I pulled to the shoulder of the road grabbing camera as I drove one handed.

The truck driver was able to stop in time. Yes, he locked up his wheels and that is where the white smoke is coming from.

The following photos are some Alaska scenery pics. Some of you have mentioned that you like them. The days were cloudy and rainy, but the scenery is spectacular anyway - or at least *I* think so.

PurpleMoose at Kenai Lake

This is the back side of Kenai Lake Monday afternoon. The photo of my motorcycle on the Seward trip was taken on the front side of the lake which has a distinct "L" shape.

Turnagain Arm in the cloudsthe Arm of Turnagain - again

The above photos were taken "on the move" as I drove alongside Turnagain Arm. Legend has it that when Captain Cook was seeking a new passage he and his crew ventured up Turnagain Arm. Coming to a dead end, Capt. Cook is purported to have said Turn again, boys and the name has stuck.

I wanted to share with you the fog/rain clouds hovering over the mountains as I drove homeward. I'm afraid that the photos don't really show that very well, but the scenery is still lovely.
