This page contains a list of guides and other assorted text files that are either essential or very useful for creating your own missions for
Command & Conquer: Red Alert. They are all presented as Zip* files that you can download for free. As I come across more quality text files, I will add to this list so check back here regularly to browse through any new additions.

The Red Alert Single Player Mission Creation Guide
An absolute must read. Sometimes referred to as 'Griffin's guide' (although this is the work of two authors, Andrew Griffin and C. F. Harkins), this is essentially the Red Alert mission creation bible. It is widely cited and widely used, and is an excellent and comprehensive reference on almost everything you need to know to create a mission for C&C Red Alert. (File size - 67K)
Red Alert Single Player Mission Creation Tutorial
Another must-read mission creation guide, this one written by Ed Morrow. Morrow tends to focus less on the nuts and bolts and more on walking the novice mission creator through his first creative effort. A great tutorial with alot of valuable information. (File size - 24K)
Rules.ini
This is not a mission creation guide but rather a Red Alert game file which controls the characteristics, actions, and to a certain extent, appearances of all buildings, units and infantry in Red Alert.
Rules.ini which is located within another Red Alert game file called
redalert.mix exists in configuration settings file format (*.ini) which can be opened and read in most text editors. Values in this file can be changed to alter the cost, speed, strength, power consumption/output and many other unit and building characteristics. By altering this file, you can essentially create a whole new game. Alternatively, portions of
rules.ini can be copy-and-pasted into your created mission file and then tweaked to change the characteristics of a select few units or buildings.
Rules.ini is commented throughout to explain what does what. The zip file download presented here contains the default
rules.ini, unedited and extracted directly from the game. (File size - 17K)
