| Are employees constantly having to ask what to do next? Is this a repeat job or do we need plates? What paper do I use? What size should I use? Does it fold? Do we need to ship this? Should I call the customer to pick-up or do we deliver? Employees become as frustrated at having to ask continually what is expected or needed as you do. Informative job tickets make everyone happy and the work flow more consistent. Not to mention, it will cut your error and waste ratio drastically. Does your estimator know what size stock to order based on the finished piece? How much stock to order? Is there too much waste when setting up? Are your presses utilized efficiently? Do printed pieces seem to take an excessive time to dry? Could a few additional pieces of equipment make a difference in your production time? Are your production people producing what the equipment is capable of? Do they sit and read the paper while the press is running? Are they checking the printed piece for ink variance, scumming? Does your company hide badly printed products on the bottom, thinking your clients won't notice? Do you have outside sources that will go that extra mile to get your job completed on time? These are all items I will observe and address in an indepth written evaluation. |
