Process Modeling

My introduction to process modeling was by chance, rather than by design. In order to study high temperature milling, it was necessary that we have a suitable mill adaptable for high temperature studies. The mill initially designed for these studies failed to make the cut, and consequently I tried to develop a model for the milling mechanics and energy transfer, based on which we are modifying the mill and choosing the milling parameters.

Having got a taste of process modeling, I intend to continue work in this line, with special emphasis on process modeling of synthesis of nanomaterials. Studying the hyper-chaotic phenomena during ball milling, and its implication on alloying kinetics (for synthesis of the nano-alloys) and optimizing the cooling rates for casting glasses are the two current areas of interest.
