Portland Economic Development Commission
Bubble Magic At the Farmer's Market August 2, 2003
Over the past year the Economic Development Commission has accomplished the following:
- Completion of a professionally produced promotional brochure, which will be distributed throughout the region;
- Development of an interpretive sign for Main Street, (under the guidance of the
Portland Historical Society);
- Sponsorship of the Saturday Farmer's and Crafter's Market from June to October;
- Promotion of the town's Small Business Loan Program at the Portland Fair;
- Business retention visits (new and existing).
Future activities include continuing efforts toward business retention and attraction of new businesses, participation in the
Quarry/Riverfront and PRIDE projects, and conducting visitation of businesses with the goal of determining and meeting their
