Some misc tips I need to keep track of for future reference - MY VB TIPS
Building an MS Word Merge type document using a text file as its source data

My name is Joe, I've been a basic programmer throughout all of its existing lifetime which includes the days of qw basic, quick basic, crescent tools, visual basic and vbnet. I somehow even managed to buy "Power Basic" but I never used it. Times have changed. As simple as those older languages are todays powerful .net framework gives us new challenges. I get exhausted trying to learn all of the new programming available to us developers. My professional career finds me as a mainframe programmer - go figure! I learn pc programming on my own time, I suppose you could call all of this work and learning a 'hobby'?
On this page I'll share some computer based training notes that I've taken for that one day I'll need to go back and revisit some of this once learned knowledge. You are welcome to take a look at some of the hours spent learning with these courses. My notes are listed below.
.Net notes on cbt courses I have taken
VB.NET and security within the .Net framework
.NET Framework environment overview
ASP.NET Framework - managing web applications, contains partial notes... incomplete course
ADO.NET Framework - managing databases
My main disappointment after learning ado.net database programming is there is ado recordset programming in vb.net as we all know from before the .Net days.
View Adorecordset programming sample code I found in the MS developer network software
The following are not cbt notes and do contain some additional learning experiences migrating from vb to visual basic .net:
Building .NET Managed Components for COM+
The following are unrelated to migration to VB.NET:
Getting started with Microsoft Help Workshop - version I have is 4.2 from VB5
Getting started with Microsoft Html Help compiler installed with standard VB.net
Here is the future of PC's according to Microsoft... take notice WINFX is on the way and looks good for .net framework support.
Longhorn software development kit (SDK)
Here is a list of my current vb.net projects, click to view their status if you might be interested.
