| THE IGUANA HUG Sitting on top of a cage with a screen Basking on top of a light I'm the tame one, never been mean And I NEVER bite I like to climb all over the house I think it's really neat Messing up shades & window sills It just can't be beat I leave my mark on the living room floor Many, many times My owners love me all the more For my lovely crimes I get to roam freely around the house I enjoy it a bunch Sometimes, I even get to go outside Just so I can munch On leafy greens and yummy things That I truly enjoy I like the food my owners bring It brings me so much joy I have three other friends just like me But, they stay in the cage That's why I sit on top it for free And they look at me with such rage George nods his head at me all the time But, that's okay I still consider him a friend of mine And we sometimes play Gracie is a sweet little gal She sits upon a tree She makes a really great pal And I think she really likes me Slick is pretty and has a short tail But, she's fun to be around She seems to be doing rather well Considering she's from out of town My name is Iggy, for Iguana you see As you can probably tell I'm 4 feet long, "little" old me And I wish you well! Last night, one of my owners came in Just to check and see If I was comfortable and where I'd been And she really missed me I saw her reach down to give me a pat Right upon the head I don't always enjoy that, So, I nodded instead Her arms reached down to pick me up And you'll never see this much love I reached up toward my sweet owner And we gave eachother a hug! by Meshel |

| The Common Green Iguana (Iguana iguana) can grow to be over 6 feet long, most of which is tail! Iguanas are primarily vegetarians but have also been known to eat insects and even small animals like mice as they mature. The Iguana often perches on a branch overhanging a river, and when threatened will plunge into the water for safety. Believe it or not, these tree dwelling creatures are also excellent swimmers! Iguanas make wonderful pets when cared for properly. They can survive for 15 to 18 years in captivity! You better be willing to take care of one for a long time if you get one of these guys for a pet. If you think you might want an iguana or any other animal for a pet, we suggest that you do a lot of research before purchasing one. These animals require special care to live long, healthy and happy lives but will make an excellent pet if you care for them properly. |
