FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Local Residents undertake Child Protection TrainingEssential training for all staff and volunteers..December 2001-- The PLACE Initiative, umbrella organisation for five residents associations, has successfully completed Child Protection Training. 18 local volunteers, including committee members and staff, productively passed the child protection course. This training course was facilitated by Miss Alison Hilary from Community Sector Training over a 6-week period in the Rectory Resource Centre. This allowed the group to be trained in all aspects of child protection and The Children's Order. Mr Clifford Forbes, chairperson, commented, "This training is particularly important for the work with the youth, that will be organised and carried out in the near future by The PLACE Initiative. It is essential that all staff and volunteers are trained to the best of their ability, ensuring safety of all children involved in any projects that will take place. This is the first step in many training initiatives, which will take place through PLACE for all local residents under the PLACE umbrella organisation. In the spring, we intend to hold another round of child protection training for other interested volunteers." If you are interested in attending a child protection training course in the future, please contact charmain Curie, Co-Ordinator, or Kerry Millington, Trainee Development Worker.
