Our Mission"The PLACE Initiative is committed to improving the quality of life within our Community, through a process of community development."
Company ProfileThe PLACE Initiative is an umbrella organisation for five residents associations who work and live in the Protestant estates of Portadown. The member groups include:
The staff and volunteers of the PLACE Initiative, work very closely with the statutory bodies such as, Craigavon Borough Council, Northern Ireland Housing Executive, Department of Regional Development and Northern Ireland Electricity to address issues on behalf of the residents of the five areas within the PLACE umbrella. PLACE also run a diverse range of projects to meet the needs of local residents, such as, Basic I.T Courses, training on committee skills and roles, Family Fundays, Youth Cultural Workshops, Women's Groups, Senior Citizen Tea Dances and various day trips as well as addressing environmental and social issues. The PLACE Initiative Executive Committee: PLACE is made up of The chairperson and Secretary of each of the five member groups. This ensures fair representation from all areas in the decision-making process, and allows feedback through the members to the residents groups.
