I love all kinds of sports. As a child I played ice hockey, baseball, tennis, and football. I lettered in tennis in high school and am a level 5 player. I met my wife Carolynn on the tennis courts, so one could say ours is a love match. I play tennis twice a week and enjoy watching it on television, especially the 4 Grand Slam tennis tournaments: the Australian Open, the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open.
I was raised in Massachusetts, so it should come as no surprise that my favorite professional sports teams are from Boston.
The Boston Bruins are probably
my favorite sports team. I grew up watching the great Bobby
Orr and Phil
Esposito lead the Boston Bruins hockey team to 2 Stanley Cup Championships
in the early 1970's. I must confess that I don't follow them as closely
as I once did.
The Boston
Red Sox fans have always been long suffering. They have not won a World
Series since 1912. Their World Series losses of 1967, 1975, and 1986 are
legendary and have left unfilled holes in the hearts of their loyal New
England fans. My boyhood hero was Carl
Yastrzemski. I
idolized
him to the point that I switched from batting righthanded to lefthanded,
so I could be like him. He was a class act, the last player to win baseball's
Triple Crown of batting, and a deserving first ballot Hall of Fame inductee. The

Sox's Carl Yastrzemski page.
I must admit that my allegiance to the New
England Patriots was never a strong one. They never had competitive
teams when I lived there and so it was not difficult for me to embrace
another football team as my favorite. My wife Carolynn was born in Washington,
D.C. and lived in Bethesda, Maryland.
Her family are and have always been ardent Washington
Redskins fans.
When Carolynn and I were dating, I would invite her parents to my house
to watch the Redskins every Sunday afternoon on my satellite dish. I was
hooked, and it didn't hurt to cement my allegiance that they won the Super
Bowl Championship that year. I 've been a diehard fan ever since.
Having lived in
Florida for 22 years, I could not help but have more than a passing
interest in the Miami
Dolphins football team. They are my second favorite football team behind
the Redskins with the Patriots coming in third.
I went to the University of Florida for 8 years and am
proud to be a Florida Gator. The University
of Florida Gator Football Team won the NCAA Championship 2 years ago
under coach Steve Spurrier and Heismann Trophy winner, Danny Wuerfel. Go
Gators!!!
