Parrot Care 101
So, youve taken the big leap and decided to adopt a parrot into your family.  Whether you bought your new family member as a baby or adopted an older bird, we are still going to use the term adopted because that is what youve done.  Adopting a parrot is almost as complex and time-consuming as adopting a child.  A parrot is not an animal you can buy, put in a cage, and take out only when you have the time once or twice a week.  Parrots are extremely intelligent and emotionally complex animals.  Many behaviorists and scientists have likened their intelligence to that of a human toddler, only they never grow up!  Daily love, attention and training are a must!

OK, now that you are more aware of what it takes to be a parrot mom or dad, please proceed through the rest of this short guide.  I hope to walk you through the first few weeks with your new feathered kid.  Consider this the beginning of your bird owner education because you will need to read much more than the information contained in this website  to be a good parrot parent so your new feathered child will live to a ripe old age.  You are in for the most enchanting, frustrating, and wonderful experience of your life!
