Household Dangers
&
Poisonous Foods
DANGERS:

Over-heated Teflon cookware.  It can kill in seconds.

Exhaust fumes, burning plastic utensils & other chemical fumes can also kill.

Dogs & cats.  If you mix species in one household, use caution and good judgment.

Large vessels of water, such as toilets & kitchen sinks.  Even if your parrot doesnt drown, it       can get water in its lungs & die from pneumonia.

Chemical scents such as cleaners, air fresheners, and scented candles are very harmful.  An    open flame on candle or stove can catch feathers on fire in an instant.

Ceiling fans can kill your parrot instantly.

Glass windows & doors can be deadly to a parrot with unclipped wings.  Since your bird  can     see through the glass, they dont think any barrier is in their way & can crash into them &
   break their neck.

Sticky fly strips hanging from ceiling are a nightmare to get off the parrots feathers.

FOODS:

Try to feed your parrot organically grown foods.  Pesticides are very harmful to all avian             species.

Some traditionally grown foods that are low in pesticides & high in nutrition:  corn, sweet             potato, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, grapes (U.S.), bananas, plums, watermelon, broccoli.

Poisonous to parrots in varying degrees:  onions, garlic, avocados, chocolate, dairy products,    alcohol, salt & sugar.

Use common sense.  Never give a bird anything it cannot get in the wild.
