| DANGERS: � Over-heated Teflon cookware. It can kill in seconds. � Exhaust fumes, burning plastic utensils & other chemical fumes can also kill. � Dogs & cats. If you mix species in one household, use caution and good judgment. � Large vessels of water, such as toilets & kitchen sinks. Even if your parrot doesn�t drown, it can get water in its lungs & die from pneumonia. � Chemical scents such as cleaners, air fresheners, and scented candles are very harmful. An open flame on candle or stove can catch feathers on fire in an instant. � Ceiling fans can kill your parrot instantly. � Glass windows & doors can be deadly to a parrot with unclipped wings. Since your bird can see through the glass, they don�t think any barrier is in their way & can crash into them & break their neck. � Sticky fly strips hanging from ceiling are a nightmare to get off the parrot�s feathers. FOODS: � Try to feed your parrot organically grown foods. Pesticides are very harmful to all avian species. � Some traditionally grown foods that are low in pesticides & high in nutrition: corn, sweet potato, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, grapes (U.S.), bananas, plums, watermelon, broccoli. � Poisonous to parrots in varying degrees: onions, garlic, avocados, chocolate, dairy products, alcohol, salt & sugar. � Use common sense. Never give a bird anything it cannot get in the wild. |
