Catch of the Day Squeezed in between two defenders, Eric Henkels leaped and made a circus catch for a first down.
Hit of the Day Dom Calamias and Eric Henkels heads collided with a vicious hit that broke up a pass play. Sadly, they were on the same team. ( Aftermath , Chipped tooth
Dick of the Day Phil Schilling gave it to not one but two defenders including butt sex Mohan, breaking their ankles. The picture sequence can be found here ( 1, 2, 3)
With a little help from Charter Oaks athletic standouts, PFL edged out a tough opponent in Dan Levin and his motley group of friends. PFL took to the offensive side first, but despite catches from Henkels and Badali, were stopped. Tom Kelly of the LC variety, playing quarterback for Dan Levin and Friends, jumped on the opportunity, finding Alex Schmid for their initial touchdown. A Ray Alexander interception put PFL in an even bigger deficit as their opponents scored again.
A short pep-talk, and the PFL was back on to its normal self, as runs from Calhoun and Calamia, along with catches from Smith and Henkels moved PFL down the field. A few plays later, Alexander found Henkels who made a diving catch for PFLs first score.
A PFL stop on defense, and Alexander began moving the ball again including two passes to Mike Quatraro. Henkels second touchdown reception of the day put the scores at two a piece. Undaunted, Kelly struck back swiftly with a TD pass to Nick Cerminara, one of Cerminaras three on the day.
The PFL, in return, mounted yet another monster drive, with receptions by Smith and Schilling . After a Dom Calamia run, Alexander went up top and found a streaking Calhoun, who burned Colbridge on the play. Henkels burned Steve Mohan on the next play for his third.
The teams traded off scores, , and a TD pass to Schmid made it 8-6 in favor of PFL at the break. Kelly was stopped on his first possession of the second half due to loss of downs. Stargell took advantage on the ground, one of his five on the day.
Though Kelly continued to move the ball with passes to Colbridge and and Green on consecutive drives, their lack of playmaking ability on the defensive side gave them trouble when it came to keeping a competitive game. However, Kelly was stopped short by an interception by Henkels who returned it thirty yards before being stopped.
Zach Calhoun capitalized on a swing pass that he took 30 yards for a touchdown, shedding three tackles on his way there. Although Schmid kept his team in it, the PFL offense proved to be too much. And with second and goal on their opponents 15, Dom Calamia took the toss for the final score of the game, capping PFLs win by a three point margin.
When asked about their success on the day, Mirabella referred reporters to the three-headed running attack, as well as Zach Calhouns emergence into the passing offense.

Catch of the Day Off a sure interception, Kevin Dahms paused and caught a ball that was tipped twice before scampering into the end zone.
Hit of the Day BJ Walter lowered his shoulder into the sternum of Ray Alexander, steam-rolling him while leaving him on the ground short of breath.
Runner up BJ Walters tried to hurdle Mike Allagrezza but was caught in mid-air and slammed onto his back.
On a wet, muddy field, the PFL and Montco took their sides in the Turkey Bowl rematch that on paper looked to be a very close match-up. Missing Meyers and Whitelock however, Montco had its work cut out for them if they were going to beat PFL this time around.
After a huge stop in Montcos first possession, PFL rallied behind a 35 yard screen play to Zach Calhoun who broke 5 tackles on his way to a first down. Making their way into the red zone, Alexander found Nate Bailey at the five, but fumbled at the two, leading to a turnover on downs.
An impromptu stellar performance by Bob Wynne at quarterback took the PFL by surprise.
We werent expecting Wynne to come out playing like this. We knew he was experienced, but since he has dedicated the few remaining worthless years of his life to being a carpenter, we didnt think he had much left, said Alexander.
Wynne drove his team down the field via his arm and his legs, and after some confusion, hit Kevin Dahms for the opening score of the game. The PFL answered back fast thanks to a Steve Stargell touchdown, nodding scores at 1.
An interception by Dave Schmeltzer in the endzone allowed PFL to gain possession again and take the lead after a Nate Bailey receiving touchdown. A Montco turnover on downs allowed PFL to score once again this time by the power invested in Calhoun. At 3-1, Montco was down, but certainly not out. Joe Diorio was back to his normal self in the backfield, running over would-be tacklers time and time again. He would eventually score to make it a 3-2 game.
The effort was formidable, although the PFL were relentless on both sides of the ball. On a double move, Alexander found Eric Henkels on a 65 yard bomb down to the 20. After a pass to Schilling, Alexander hit Stargell at the five, who danced his way around defenders and into the end zone making the score 4-2.
Assistance in the form of BJ Walter and John Prykowski arrived with the score at 5-2, and Walter proceeded to put on a tackling clinic. Walter proved viable on defense, however, he went 0-4 at quarterback throwing three interception to Schmeltzer, Alexander, and Allagrezza who returned his respective interception for a touchdown. Afterwards his clinic closed down for renovations after Calhoun broke his tackle as he made his way towards a touchdown.
Wynne kept the pressure on PFL, forcing a fumble on Alexander on a fourth a goal situation. His prudence paid off, as he lead his team down the field leading to an eventually touchdown pass from Diorio to Sacchetti lovin BJ Walter.
The PFL Struck back like the empire, as Ray Alexander faked a handoff and scampered 70 yards on the ground for a touchdown. Said Mirabella afterwards, It was great to see Ray running again. I didnt think hed have much left after surgery, but today he proved me wrong with two rushing touchdowns.
With the score at 8-6, the PFL attempted time and time again to finish off the game, but the Montco defense stepped up, forcing three PFL losses of possessions. After Schmeltzers second interception, and a reception to Deluca, Alexander found Nate Bailey, who broke two tackles on his way for a touchdown.
With the win, the PFL move to 2-0-1 on the season, and have a game scheduled against Dan Levin & Friends Friday December 29th at 1:00pm at Penndale.

Matt Quinn and his group of 30 year old friends (Jeff Schautz, Mike Coffey, and Rory Burns were also there)
6-6 in 9v9 football
Well let me first start off by saying this was the biggest piece of shit Ive ever been involved in. Backyard football with a 3 man line is a joke, its backyard football for a reason. No pads, my helmets seriously what the fuck. I declare that I will never be involved with a shitshow like this in the future.
Furthermore, showing up to the field expecting to be playing a bunch of high school seniors, I was in utter shock when I saw a grown man show up being trailed by a kid no more than seven years of age his kid. No way this kid is playing, I thought to myselfwhen I realized. Two other 30 year old males came to play as well. One of them lost a tooth too I think.
AnyWHO, the game sucked, but I think I might have mentioned that. As for the game itself, Jeff Schautz had 4 touchdown passes. Tom Signore had three interceptions, two of which were returned for scores. PFL climbed back from a 4-2 whole to lead things at 5-4 at one point, with help from touchdown catches from Steve Stargell, and a 99 yard reception from Phil Schilling. Matt Quinn burned Ray Alexander to go ahead 6-5, but PFL stormed back with a touchdown to Steve Stargell for the game tier. Schilling had two big hits on Rory Burns, one of which sent him to the sidelines. Burns had 5 catches on the day, and Quinn had 7. The turning point in the game was in interception by Mike Spooner Oldham, who intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown to cut PFLs deficit in half.
During Christmas break, PFL will have at least three opponents. Two of which will be rematches of thanksgiving games. Tentatively, the rematch against Montco is scheduled for December 22nd at 1:00pm.

Catch of the Day Zach Calhoun took advantage of a bad ball thrown to Phil Schilling, who slipped, by attacking the ball from the side and making the diving grab for the first down.
Hit of the Day On a play where Joe Whitelock sharply switched sides of the field, an unsuspecting Eric Henkels was blind-sided and border-line murdered by Dom Calamia. Henkels left the game and did not return.
Runner up Matt Frederick unloaded on Dave Madara with a vicious hit sending him into a puddle.
With confidence exchanged for smack talk on both sides for several months leading up to Thanksgiving, it was PFL who showed their worth in the 2006 edition of the Turkey Bowl. After nearly two months of inactivity, the Pennfield Football League, for the most part, looked as good as ever, unrelenting for the duration of the contest.
Capitalizing on a Phil Schilling fumble, Montco took an early lead with a pass from Ben Meyers to Dan Diorio. Another PFL fumble proved the same result, as Ben Meyers found Dan Diorio for their second connection of the game putting them ahead 2-0.
At the helm for the first three possessions, Mike Allegrezza capped a drive with a pass to Eric Henkels to cut the lead in half. Shutting down Montco on their next drive, Ryan Huber rumbled, bumbled and then on a 35 yard scamper scored to tie the game at 2. The PFL stopped Montco on their next possession yet again, and a drive lead by Allagrezza was capped off by an option to Steve Stargell to give PFL the mod 3-2.
Said Alexander after the game, The option really worked for us today, and it was obviously something they werent expecting. PFL would score four times on this day by means of the option play, not to mention countless other yards leading to eventual scores.
With his team on the wrong end of a 3-0 string of touchdowns, Meyers began utilizing Joe Whitelock as an offensive running threat. Whitelock, who was a PFL standout last year as a receiver, has made the adjustment to the backfield, paying dividends for his team. The combined rushing onslaught of Diorio and Whitelock kept Montco in the game all day.
The teams traded scores by means of touchdowns by Calhoun, Whitelock, and Stargell. With the score at 5-4, Ben Meyers threw a pass to Dan Diorio into double coverage via Team Headcase, as the ball was tipped by Allegrezza and intercepted by Henkels who returned it 100 yards for a score.
Mike and Eric played fantastic today. They simply just made big plays for the entire game. said coach Mirabella of his two young defensive studs.
However Montco was relentless, and as drives were seemingly stalling, the ball was given to Whitelock, who on this day was always good for a first down and more. Allegrezza recorded 6 tackles on Whitelock by his lonesome, but these usually came after the first down marker was surpassed. On fourth down on the PFL goaline, Meyers gave to Joe Diorio up the middle, who ran over Alexander and Henkels on his way to a touchdown.
A turnover on downs for the PFL put Montco back in business. Meyers found Kevin dahms for a 50 yard strike, who saw his first athletic action since co-ed Tee Ball in this game. Five plays later, Meyers found Dahms for the touchdown, tying the game at 6.
PFL answered back quickly with a drive carried primarily by Stargell and Calhoun. On this occasion, Alexander found an open Zach Calhoun in the back of the end zone on a very Matt Jones-esque catch. Calhoun, though he did not put up great numbers in the touchdown category, was a menace for Montco by rushing and receiving. Zachs usually known for his ass fetish and not his catching ability, but hes really improved his hands this year, and hes a nice addition to the passing game, said Alexander.
The score at half time was 7-7, and Meyers opened a would-be drive with another interception this time to Arvind Balaji. However after taking no more than five steps, Mike Bones forced a fumble that he recovered himself. Meyers made this drive count: finding Dan Diorio two times and then finding Dom Calamia for the score.
Once again, the teams traded scores with relatively simple drives with limited defense. A large portion of these touchdowns came under Joe Whitelocks name, who seemed to be fastest man on the field. For PFL, Phil Schilling returned to his normal self with a multitude of receptions including a touchdown catch. In similar fashion, Eric Henkels, who lead all receivers in yards and catches, had the best game of his career, recording two touchdowns in three drives. Henkels said after the game, I just felt good before the game, and I knew I was going to have a big day.
Stargell began cashing in for his usual chunks of yardage through the air and the ground; though very uncharacteristically, he was held to few runs of 30 yards or more. The stout Montco defense, lead by Frederick, Diorio, and Meyers, who are all sure-handed tacklers, kept the big PFL plays on the ground to a minimum.
With scores, at 11 a piece, a Montco turnover lead to an Alexander TD pass to Craig Oliver FROMPITTSBURGH. At 12-11, another Ben Meyers interception lead to a touchdown strike from Alexander to Johnson FROMShippensburg, good for 40 yards.
Stepping in for the first time in a year at center for the PFL, Dave Madara quietly caught 5 balls for three touchdowns for the PFL, and acting as a decoy in the run game, he was a big reason why the PFL had hardly any trouble moving the ball on both the ground and through the air.
Instituting the Win by Two rule, Montco did manage to catch up because of a fumbled exchange from Alexander to Johnson. A Whitelock touchdown run made it 13-12. Alexander lead his team to another score, thanks to two fourth down conversion runs by Zach Calhoun. A big PFL defensive stop thanks to plays by Hilferty, Alexander, and Schilling, and the PFL ended the game with a Phil Schilling TD reception for 50 yards, stiff arming Dom Calamia into the end zone and ending the game at 15-13.
A rematch has been scheduled for sometime during Christmas break. The PFL will be playing one final game this thanksgiving break against Matt Quinn and Company this coming Saturday.
