First, Basic was invented. It had passed many changes and there was many other versions of it. It did not have a file control commands (files$ , open, mkdir, etc...). It was an operating system for some microcomputers (for example Commodore 64).

example:

New

READY.

1. Print "In this basic Load command is used to save files and run command to run code."

2 . Print "In comodre the files were saved on the radio-like tape."

Save "My application"

OK

READY

Later Microsoft introduced a Qbasic (together with MS-DOS and to this time with some Windows editions). It did not have any compiler which could compile *.bas to *.exe file. It had files managing commands. It was a success in the programming and soon QuickBasic 4.5 appear. It had additional options and a compiler. Next (and last) invention of Microsoft was QuickBasic 7.1 (known also as PDS: Professional Development System). It include more options than QuickBasic and had many additional commands (for example: chdrive$ ).

Today QuickBasic 4.5 and PDS 7.1 are not available in any shop or Microsoft
website. However they may be downloaded from Internet, which is an illegal way.
Qbasic may be purchased with MS-DOS and with some Windows editions.
