This site will be the repository for the chapter’s newsletters, meeting information, and photos.
South Bay AORN (chapter #0523) is located in the South Bay area of Los Angeles County, California. We are one of 345 chapters of our parent organization - The Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN). We care for patients prior to, during, and after surgery. We used to be known as operating room nurses but we are now called perioperative nurses (which is more inclusive).
The new AORN year starts in September (The AORN year is September-June) and the first meeting for this year (2009) is October 27 (it's always the fourth Tuesday of the month). You will receive 1.5 free contact hours for attending the educational session from 6:30-8:00. You're welcome to attend the business meeting at 6 and/or the board meeting at 5:30. Registration also starts at 6 with announcements at 6:15. Please arrive at 6:15 for announcements and an on-time start to the program at 6:30. Thank you!

Here is the flyer for the October meeting. Please feel free to post it at your facility! In addition we will have a vote for the delegates to represent our chapter at the 2010 AORN Congress in Denver, Colorado in March.
The current candidates are: Wendy Fenelon, Mary Ritchie and Toni Stafford.
Nominations will be taken from the floor at the meeting.

My Dear Friends,
I have some sad news. One of our charter members and a past president of our chapter, Jill Meibers, passed away this weekend (9/12/09).
The Funeral Mass for our past president, Marilyn (Jill) Meibers, will be Monday September 22, 7:00 p.m. at St. Catherine Laboure, 3846 Redondo Beach Blvd. in Torrance.

Hello Everyone,
I hope that your summer has been great! Mine has been busy with travel and volunteer commitments but it has been awesome. Here are the dates and educational programs scheduled for the coming year. Three of the four speakers have been confirmed but I wanted to get the information out to you as soon as possible so you can make plans to attend. All of our speakers this year will be nurses. Three of the programs are coordinated and /or presented by our own members. We will also be voting or confirming the candidates for delegates to Congress at the October meeting. All of our meetings will be at Torrance Memorial Hospital in the Health Conference Center.
