Last Month:

October Meeting – Gordon Snow got everyone in an early holiday mood by telling the story of a special visit from Santa’s elves and the elf boot (a folded dollar bill borrowed from Virginia Sperry). Harold Sperry showed everyone his folded bill elephant and flying crane. Troy Keefer performed a few card effects including one where a card of several face-up cards arranged on the table in rows and columns is selected by a spectator, thought of by the spectator, and then revealed. Virginia was very impressed that Troy knew what card she was thinking of. Troy also performed an effect where he and a spectator (Greg Joyce) each start off with a packet of cards, shuffle their cards, and cut off a small portion, which are then shuffled into the other person’s deck. After repeating this another time or two, a written prediction is revealed that there will be a certain number of cards face down in the deck. Another prediction is revealed that all the face-up cards will be red suits. Finally, a last prediction is revealed that all the face-down cards will be clubs except for one, the Ace of Spades.

MAGIC NEWS

Greg Joyce attended Jackie’s Magic Benefit recently in the Gurnee area (northern Chicago suburbs). This is the third year for the event, which featured nine performers including Marshall Brodein, Chezaday, and other Chicago area performers. The show collected donations as well as over 1500 pounds of food for local food pantries. It was held at St. Patrick’s Church in Wadsworth and was well attended with around 500 or so in the audience. It was an excellent show and the performers and volunteers were gracious in presenting a wonderful event, in the honor of the daughter of a local magician, who also performed magic. The Peoria Magicians Assembly is working on developing membership cards for our members. Based upon approval by the board, cards may be given to members at an upcoming meeting or through the mail. More information will follow.

The Peoria Magicians Assembly meets the THIRD Monday of the month at Leonardo’s Pizza (Party Room), 700 E. War Memorial Dr.,

Peoria, IL.  The club does not meet during some months including July and August.  Please consult the web site for current

information.  Guests are invited to our meetings at no charge.  Membership is available for $15 a year beginning in January each year
