A great day of magic!
Great lectures by Michael Baker, Bob Sanders, Daryl,
and Bob Bengel. Close-up Contest Winners were 1st Rob Thompson (Ottawa), 2nd Jon Gallagher (Elmwood/Peoria), 3rd
Kyle Lewis (13, from Murfreesboro,Tennessee). Rob performed coins across in the hands, Jon
performed a funny close-up set, and Kyle performed a routine with four cards
appearing under playing cards followed by a coin matrix and dice stacking
extraordinaire). Prizes included
plaques, close-up mats, card decks from www.ellusionist.com
and SAM license plate covers.
The evening magic
show was once again a standing-room only sell-out! All the performers were great and we want to

Daryl, Dakota Rose (National Youth
Stage Winner, Ohio), Andy Dallas (2006-07 SAM
President, Champaign, IL), Bob Sanders, Michael Baker, ventriloquist Rick Fisher (Michigan), comedy juggler Troy Roark (Springfield, IL), Bob Bengel (Arizona)
Bob Bengel was awesome, giving an over three-hour lecture
Friday evening on cards and coins and performing a lecture on Saturday and
opening the evening show with a funny routine involving several kids from the
audience. Daryl’s lecture included some
clever card effects including a rising card in envelope and a performance of
Jumping Knot of Pakistan. Bob Sanders
did a lecture on silk magic and dove silk productions
and Michael Baker lectured on various close-up magic. Rick Fisher was a big hit with the audience
with his off-the-wall hilarious Riley the Rabbit vent routine, Michael Baker
performed a wonderful set including Multiplying Bottles and Multiplying
Silks. Dakota Rose, 16, was very
entertaining with his life-creation story with a Native American theme utilizing
related props and doves. Troy Roark
juggled several stacking metal cups and ping pong balls (in his mouth). Andy Dallas, wowed us all
with his beautiful rendition of Timepiece from Mat, Ball and Vase, and Zombie. Wow, what a day!

The Peoria Magicians Assembly meets the THIRD Monday of the month at Leonardo’s Pizza (Party Room), 700 E. War Memorial Dr.,
Peoria Heights, IL. The club does not meet during some months including July and August. Please consult the web site for current
information. Guests are invited to our meetings at no charge. Membership is available for $15 a year beginning in January each year
