DoomCE

      I have recently found out how to install Doom on my pocket pc. I have always seen little things at freware sites that said you need the wads gapi and other stuff. I never knew what they were talking about. It confused me. So I looked a little harder and I found a guide that explained it all much better. Now that I know how to do it, I would like to share with you what I have learned.

      You need four things. First you need DoomCe for your device. You can get it here http://www.jimmysoftware.com/Software/Doom4CE/download.asp This is the program that lets you use the Wads.

      You need a WAD for the pocket pc. http://www.turjah.com/trial/Doom4CE.wad That is where to get it.

      You need the game Doom wad. There is a shareware version availible here. http://www.turjah.com/trial/doom1wad.zip If you have Doom95 for your computer ou can use the full wad from there! All you have to do is find the wad in the program files of your computer.

      You also need Gapi. Gapi is a little peice of code that goes into your pocket pc's windows directory. It lets games control the pocket pc better for decent preformance. Gapi is a free MS download http://www.microsoft.com/downloads...

      No that you have collected all of this stuff from around the web you will need to use it. Make a new folder on your computer's desktop and put the program DoomCE in there. Add the Doom4CE wad and the Doom wad that you have in there too. Then move that folder onto your pocket pc. You can put it on a storage card if you want. It is rather large.

      When you run it, make sure you have plenty of memory. Go to Start> Settings> System> Memory and move the slider away from the program memory side. This will let the pocket pc use more RAM for programs. Don't worry, this is not a permanent setting. Your pocket pc can allocate more memory while doing regualar tasks but the program will have an error if there isnt enough RAM free when you try to run it.

      Controls information is in the game. You can learn very quickly.
