This is the first time we stayed in this area to "see the sites". Below you can see the route we plan to use for this trip. The picture above was taken during our ride around the lake. I want a colection of this type of picture from as many state line crossings as I can. I will get alot more during our cross country trip next summer.

Orland, Ca to South Lake Tahoe

On Sunday June 24,2007 we packed the bike and headed for So. Lake Tahoe, California. Over all this was a good trip. Except: on Sunday afternoon about 2:30 in the afternoon a wild fire started just west of the lake which caused some evacuations and road closings. We spent some time at the casinos across the border in Nevada, along with some quiet time in the room. We also got a chance to take a ride all the way around the lake. Below are some picture we took during this trip.

ABOVE: This is a nice place to stay. It was just a short walk from the "beach" along the lake shore. It also came with (included) a full, cooked to order breakfast at the resturant.

Above are some pictures taken at the lake just a short walk from our room. In the first picture you can see the smoke "plume" from the forest fire. The center picture shows the mountains through the smoke.

The pictures above were taken on our ride around the lake. The picture on the left is of the only island in the lake. The other two were taken on the hike to a small waterfall.
