Some have come to terms and coexist with the humans who may also guard the coast. A few have even agreed to be bound to gems in order to better protect their territories.
Magic: Kaio are alluvically gifted, and use their water magic to defend and deepen their territories, often tunneling through the earth to develope subaquatic caverns.
Size: An aggressive species that will kill its own offspring, most young are small enough to travel upriver into the shallows. Inhabiting the rivers, they slowly work their way back downstream towards the bay and ocean, as they grow larger. Once they reach the coast they are often 8 ft in lenth; the average territory-holding kaio is between 12 and 20 ft long. Deep ocean kaio are even larger, having moved out into open waters as one of the ocean's top predators, aside from the pack-hunting orcas and dolphins.
