They are raised by the mother until old enough to fend for themselves, where upon they will usually live in a human household. Some become squires, others become Jr. Rangers, and work their way up through the Guide Hall, helping to guard the town or their adopted human family.
Magic: Some are magically inclined, others aren't. It is based entirely upon chance when the drakling is born of a dragon parent; if born of other draklings, it is based upon genetic predisposition. The magic element is based upon genetics--if the mother was fire element and the father ice element, then the offspring is either fire or ice.
Size: this too is regulated by chance if the drakling is born of a dragon parentage, but is based upon genetics if born of draklings. Some never get much bigger than a housecat, while others grow to be 8 ft at the shoulder.
Lifespan: draklings rarely live to be more than 100 yrs old; most have a life expectancy of 75. There are usually 2-4 eggs in a clutch.
