Pamela
McKeage,
a native of St. Louis, is employed full-time managing a law office. She
is active in sports,
enjoys reading, writing and editing poetry. Her
poems are about the basics of life and the many challenges that people
are faced with. Her first poem Life 101 was recently featured on the
Poetry.com website. This poem was also published recently in a collection of
works titled "The Colors Of Life".
A large part of Pamela’s focus since January 2003 has been assisting Carol A. Jackson in self publishing Turn Gently My Pages. The prospect
of Carol’s very passionate and very personal poetry getting published
this year is thrilling says McKeage.
The whole publishing process is new to
us. It has been especially arduous when deciding the cover design, page
layout and photographs to be used, yet a true labor of love. On August 17, 2003, Pamela received the "Poet Of Merit" award at the International Society Of Poets conference held in Washington D.C. which was attended by over 2,400 participants Worldwide. She was also awarded a full publishing contract for a 60-80 page book which will feature her unique poetic writings. From the 1800 poets who competed, only ten poets were chosen internationally to receive this publishing award. Here is a picture of Pamela at the award ceremony:
Life: 101
The balance of power has
decreased
The rate of crime has increased
A child's belly screams for there's no dinner tonight
No daddy to kiss him in the morning light
Homeless victims lying here and there
On lookers rush by, not a penny to spare
The morning news announces that two are found dead
A gang related shooting, both shot in the head
Tattoos, multiple piercing, sagging clothes
A child found beaten with a garden hose
Step children, runaways, single-family homes
Gambling, drug addictions, payday loans
D.F.S., I.N.S., D.E.A.
S.S.I., F.B.I., Financial Aid
Credit card debt, bankruptcy filing
Jury renders guilty in a love triangle killing
Is it possible to change the outcome of situations?
Or, is it predetermined from the moment of creation?
