University City Police Officer, Carol Jackson at 911 CeremonyAn article published by the Riverfront Times entitled "A Cop Feels" has given Carol Jackson one of several nicknames. Some call her "The Cop Who Feels" others refer to her as "The Sensuous Cop."

Whatever title one may choose, this author of one of the most passionate poetry literary works ever written, "Turn Gently My Pages" is doing far more than just turning people's heads. Her sensual style of writing is literally capturing people's hearts.

Here is the author's personal account of the evolution her first published book. "The first writings of this book were written at a time in my life when changes began to occur within me that I did not understand. Journaling and writing have always been an outlet for me. As I began to pen my thoughts and feelings on paper, I found myself going deeper within myself than I ever had. I was being open and honest, revealing what was truly in the depth of my heart and soul.

The more I wrote, the more I wanted to write. At times it would seem that my hands could not keep up with all that I wanted to say on paper. Often tears stained the pages and I would have to stop writing because of being overcome with emotion. I felt as though some cleansing was occurring – some revelation within. I was discovering someone I never knew."

It was not long ago that I shared several of these writings with a friend and she expressed sentiments beyond what she imagined. Tears were in her eyes and she said, "How are you able to express such feelings in writing?" She wanted to share the writings with others and these writings expressed "what was in the heart of every woman." Along with that came the idea that the poetry should be placed in a book which would allow for a larger audience. When I started on these writings in 1997, I had not even considered them as poetry or for publishing. Additional writings continued and ideas for a book remained in my thoughts but I did not take any specific action towards publication. Though I kept it as a dream, it was like a fire burning within me and the dream was never far away.

In the early part of 2003, my editor Pamela McKeage, who was always commenting on what she felt was my "gift to write" took matters into her own hands. She began contacting self-publishing companies, personal editors, graphic artists, and anyone else that she could think of to get this project going. Neither one of us had a clue about publishing but she saw something in my poetry that she felt should be shared with the world.

In of January of 2004 one of my long time dreams became a reality. "Turn Gently My Pages" was formally introduced to the world and made available for purchase.

It has been a pleasure to meet fellow writers and poetry lovers at book signings and various promotional events.
