| You go past the petstore. There, in the window, you see the cutest poodle! You just HAVE to go see it. When you ask to hold it, the person says that the dog is on sale! Only $650! (Some are even more expensive!) When the puppy is in your arms, she's giving you the sad eyes. You just HAVE to have it! So you end up buying it. Little did you know that your cute puppys mom is at a puppy mill suffering. So you bring the puppy home. You take her to the vet. She gets her shots. Then the vet tells you that she has something wrong with her. It could be her eyesite, something wrong with her hips, hearing, or many other things. You end up spending thousands of dollars trying to help her, but she never gets better. You finally see the only thing you can do so she won't be in any pain is to put her down. There were a lot of things wrong with that. First off, you shouldn't have held it because you're just going to fall in love with it and have to get it. The price?!?!? That's CRAZY! The price is way jacked up. Just think, you could adopt a dog, giving it a loving home, and be giving a donation to the shelter for the same price of supporting a puppy mill. The donation would go to improving the shelter- you'd be helping homeless dogs and cats. But if you buy a pet shop puppy, you are just leaving an open space for another puppy from a mill. After a puppy gets bought, another puppy soon fills the space. It's like a cycle, and when you buy a dog from a pet shop, your helping a mill where more dogs are suffering every day. |
